Minivan Driver Who Caused Huge Highway Crash CaughtThe driver of a minivan which caused a huge highway crash in Ohio, a story we covered before, has been caught. Quite a few people saw the footage of the crash caused by the minivan completely stopping on the highway after the driver missed an exit, triggering a multi-car accident.

That crash happened back on April 30. While the whole thing was captured on traffic cam, the resolution wasn’t high enough to read the minivan’s tag. Still, the Columbus Police Freeway Patrol was on the case.
An officer was assigned the task of tracking down the driver, going through all 250 registrations for red minivans in the county. From there, a distinct sticker on the back window of the vehicle allowed the officer to pinpoint the person responsible for causing the multi-car crash.
The unnamed driver was charged with reckless operation of a motor vehicle, plus willful and wanton disregard for safety. A lot of people think the driver should face severe consequences.
The officer who tracked down the suspect told local news station WBNS that crazy behavior on highways in Ohio, like stopping completely and even reversing, has become increasingly common. Police say driver distraction is the reason, whether by phones or something else.
We know driver distraction is a real problem everywhere. People seem to often think where they live is the worst, but that’s probably because they see it so often in their hometown.
When we were taught to drive, one thing that was drilled into our heads was if you miss your exit on the highway, take the next one, then get back on going the opposite direction, getting off at the exit you missed.
That seems to be a lesson many either haven’t received or have forgotten these days. Is that just because of distraction or is there something more going on?
