YouTuber Takes Built MKIV Supra To Dealers For Trade-In Offers

It’s a lot of fun to watch a car YouTuber take his modified MKIV Supra to different dealerships and get trade-in offers. He even admits at the beginning of his journey that he knows the dealers won’t appreciate the fact the Toyota makes 1,400-horsepower and has been built meticulously.

You won’t believe how much a modified Mazda RX-7 used in the Fast and Furious sold for.

There’s a big debate in the auto industry about how much modifications add or even subtract from the value of a car. That’s going to be central to this situation where a heavily modified and highly desirable Toyota from the 90s might not be viewed so favorably by dealerships.

After all, mass market dealers are trying to appeal to mainstream consumers. We know this hurts the hearts of many enthusiasts, but to the vast majority of shoppers, cars are more than anything a way to get from point A to point B.

Sure, some are more luxurious, have more room, or are more enjoyable to drive, but these people have the viewpoint that most vehicles are pretty much the same. Sad, we know.

That might have something to do with why modifications might not increase the value of a used car and might even decrease the value. If you looked at vehicles like the average person, this MKIV Supra would just be an old Toyota sports car with some weird stuff installed that might not work right.

Even though Supercar Ron says he paid a pretty penny for the Supra, then sunk hundreds of thousands in upgrades into it, two of the three dealers don’t seem to appreciate that.

One is at least honest and tells him to go sell the car privately because the trade-in value will be bad.

Had Supercar Ron taken his MKIV Supra to some boutique dealers that sell more enthusiast-focused rides, including ones that are nicely modified like this one, the trade-in offers undoubtedly would’ve been much better.
