Wuthering Waves Has Exciting News for Steam Deck Owners

KieranGames2025-07-229250

Nearly four months after Wuthering Waves' launch on Steam, Kuro Games has made it compatible with the Steam Deck. This is great news for fans looking to play Wuthering Waves on the go, especially now that a major update is set to release on July 24, bringing a slew of new content.

Wuthering Waves' Steam Deck incompatibility issues date back to April, when the game first launched on Steam. Players who tried running it on Valve's handheld console encountered an Anti-Cheat Expert (ACE) error that prevented them from logging in. Acknowledging the problem, the devs at Kuro Games assured fans they would resolve the compatibility issue and help make its gacha game Steam Deck-compatible as soon as possible.

Now, ahead of Wuthering Waves Update 2.5, it appears Kuro Games has fulfilled its promise, quietly making the game "playable" on the Steam Deck. While it may still require some manual tweaks on the handheld for optimal performance, it will hopefully no longer run into ACE errors or other game-breaking issues. Luckily, the game supports cross-progression, so all players need to do is log into their account on the Steam Deck to access their save files.

Wuthering Waves' Steam Deck Compatibility Could Give It a Competitive Edge

There are many other gacha games with a larger audience than Wuthering Waves, such as Genshin Impact, which has dominated the market for years. However, what many of these top-performing gacha RPGs lack is a strong multi-platform presence. Genshin Impact, for instance, isn't even available on Steam, let alone compatible with the Steam Deck. Wuthering Waves' quick response to fan requests and its move to make the game playable on the popular handheld could indeed give it a notable edge over the competition.

So far, Wuthering Waves has performed impressively on Steam, with around 10,000 concurrent daily players and an average review score of Very Positive from over 18,000 reviews. However, it's not just on Steam that the game has seen success; Kuro Games' open-world gacha has also been a fan favorite on Sony's PlayStation 5. Wuthering Waves launched on PS5 back in January and has since amassed over 22,000 positive reviews on the PlayStation Store, with an average score of 4.33.

According to Gacha Revenue, Wuthering Waves earned nearly $40 million for the developer in June alone. Since launch, the game has reportedly generated close to $170 million, an impressive feat for the Chinese developer. Its new Steam Deck compatibility is expected to boost revenue further by attracting more players. Plus, the game's support for cross-platform progression lets players continue on the go, which is always a plus in the video game business.
