A 23-year-old Ohio woman named Ashlyn Rogers accused of organizing street takeovers has lost her car and will serve time in prison. Kids who thought they could do street takeovers without consequences are finding out that’s not even close to reality, at least if they don’t live in California.
Watch a street takeover BMW get brutally stopped by police.
Rogers was accused of helping to orchestrate multiple big street takeovers in Cleveland back on September 28 and 29, 2024. Investigators uncovered that she was using multiple Instagram accounts to direct participants when and where to meet, reports WKYC.
After reaching an agreement with prosecutors and pleading guilty in court, a judge sentenced the young woman to 18 months in prison for disrupting public service plus 12 months for aggravated riot.
Because the sentences are to be served concurrently, she will only spend 18 months at the most behind bars. But she still has to serve probation for two years after getting out.
In addition, Rogers forfeited her 2020 Infiniti Q50 and a cellphone to Cleveland police.
A tearful Rogers addressed the judge before she was sentenced, saying, “I deeply regret the choices that led me here.”
Last year, Ohio put into place one of the tougher anti-street takeover laws in the nation. It targets not only those who participate in the takeovers or sideshows, but also allows for criminals charges to be brought against spectators.
For anyone who organizes takeovers, the consequences are even more severe. Keep in mind Rogers is serving 18 months is prison after cutting a deal, so had she not plead guilty, fought the charges, then lost, she would be serving significantly more time behind bars.
It’s great to see states crack down on the lawless, dangerous behavior instead of just ignoring it or brushing the whole thing off like it’s no big deal.
