Pokemon GO's August 2025 Community Day has been officially announced, months after Rookidee was already confirmed as the featured creature. The newly detailed Pokemon GO event will take place at the tail end of August.
In February 2020, Niantic began experimenting with allowing Pokemon GO Community Days to be actually decided by the community. Players could vote in-game by completing Field Research tasks, with each task counting as one vote for a candidate creature. While this format was not used for every Community Day that followed, player voting returned in various forms more than half a dozen times over the next five years.

PostsThe latest example of this trend materialized back in June, when players got to vote on the August 2025 Pokemon GO Community Day. Rookidee won the vote, which Niantic confirmed on June 10. Six weeks later, the developer shared all the details of the upcoming event, which is scheduled to kick off on August 30, at 2pm local time. As is the case with most such promos, the upcoming Community Day will run for exactly three hours.
CloseFor the duration of the event, the tiny bird Pokemon will spawn much more frequently in the wild. Players will also have a significantly increased chance of encountering a shiny variant of Pokemon GO's Rookidee. Niantic isn't in the habit of disclosing shiny rates, but if past CDs are any indication, fans can expect odds in the ballpark of 1 in 25, or approximately 4%. The event should hence offer an ample opportunity to stock up on Rookidee shinies.
Evolving Corvisquire during the Community Day or up to a week afterward (until September 6, at 10pm local time) will reward a Corviknight that knows the Charged Attack Air Cutter, which costs 45 and 55 power in Trainer and Gym/Raid battles, respectively. Despite its Corviknight exclusivity and same-type attack bonus, Pokemon GO PvP players are unlikely to find much use for this move, which is generally considered to be on the weaker end of the Charged Attack spectrum.
The August 30 event will bring a mix of bonuses, including 1/4 hatch distance, a Candy boost, and extended Lure and Incense durations. Additionally, for $1.99, players will be able to access a Special Research story that includes three encounters with Rookidee with a Delightful Days-themed Special Background and one Premium Battle Pass, among several other benefits. The Delightful Days Rookidee will also be available to F2P players via a themed Timed Research task. While the objective will be time-limited, it won't have to be completed during the Community Day, but only until September 6, at 10pm local time.

Please note that Timed Research expires. The tasks associated with this Timed Research must be completed and their rewards must be claimed before Saturday, September 6, 2025, at 10:00 p.m. local time.
Event Bonuses
1/4 Egg Hatch Distance when Eggs are placed in an Incubator during the event period. 2× Candy for catching Pokémon. 2× chance for Trainers level 31 and up to receive Candy XL from catching Pokémon. Lure Modules activated during the event will last for three hours. Incense (excluding Daily Adventure Incense) activated during the event will last for three hours. Take a few snapshots during Community Day for a surprise!
