The internet is shocked to see a brand new C8 Corvette cut in half at the strict order of General Motors itself. After all, about the only time we’re used to seeing the mid-engine sports cars cut like this is when someone crashes into a pole at high speeds.
GM profits fall thanks to EVs, tariffs, warranties.
But this one, which came straight from Bowling Green Assembly, was neatly cut up after the powertrain was removed. While many have questioned what was used to cut through the body and frame, that hasn’t been revealed.
The person who shared these images, Brandon Woodley on the Facebook group Dull Men’s Club, revealed he cut up numerous C8 Corvettes while working as an auto dismantler for a parts reseller. That company seems to buy both wrecked vehicles and rejects from assembly plants.

You’ll notice the cut up C8 Corvette is missing the middle second, the cab and the roof, so even if you were to buy the two body sections, they don’t quite make a car. We don’t know why that is or what happened to the interior, but it sure is interesting.
The reason why the brand new Chevy was sent to be cut apart like this is it didn’t pass quality control checks at Bowling Green. We know everyone thinks all the cars that roll off an assembly line are perfect and end up in the hands of a loving new owner.
But the reality is some have defects which are so bad, they can’t be rectified for a practical amount of money, if at all. But the vehicles still have value when it comes to parts, so automakers will sell them to companies like this one, requiring that they aren’t sold to the public whole but instead cut up.
Woodley did say this particular C8 Corvette was sitting on the production line when a tornado hit Bowling Green Assembly. GM had to scrap quite a few cars back then.
