Pokemon GO Reveals August 2025 GO Pass Rewards

Pokemon GO has announced the August 2025 GO Pass and its rewards, with a guaranteed encounter with the legendary Fire-type bird Pokemon Moltres awaiting dedicated trainers. The GO Pass is a tiered reward system that acts similarly to the typical battle pass found in a number of live service games, with Pokemon GO awarding players who complete certain tasks with increasingly valuable items and encounters with each subsequent level.

Players who have not yet completed the July 2025 GO Pass for Pokemon GO have until August 5 to reach Rank 100 and redeem their encounter with another legendary bird, the Electric-type Zapdos. Working through the ranks of each GO Pass is an excellent way for players to collect valuable items like Stardust and Candy, which can be used to power up their Pokemon. Some ranks of the GO Pass even guarantee encounters with featured Pokemon that can be difficult — or even impossible — to find in the wild.

The August 2025 GO Pass will be available from Sunday, August 3, at 10 AM to Wednesday, September 3, at 10 AM local time. The new GO Pass promises trainers an encounter with a Moltres paired with a special background themed after the Pokemon GO Delightful Days summer season, but if the way the July pass was arranged is any indication, the legendary bird will be locked behind Rank 100. With a little luck, players who manage to reach Rank 100 may even encounter a shiny Moltres. Trainers who work their way to the end of the GO Pass will enjoy huge XP and Stardust gains, along with Max Particles, Candy, and ever-valuable Poke Balls.

The Deluxe GO Pass sweetens the deal for players willing to spend a little for faster in-game progression. The paid pass includes numerous premium rewards, including a Lucky Trinket, a Super Incubator, and additional Pokemon encounters. Although the Pokemon that can be encountered via the pass are not specified — besides Moltres — it's possible for the selection to be tied to special events that add Pokemon to Pokemon GO.

August has a ton in store for Pokemon GO players, but time is running out for some special events and promos expiring at the beginning of the month. During this year's Pokemon Presents live stream, a special code for a free Gigantamax Pokemon in Pokemon GO was revealed, guaranteeing an encounter with either Gigantamax Cinderace, Rillaboom, or Inteleon for players who redeem the promo code before Aug. 3, 2025.

From Tuesday, August 5, at 10:00 a.m. to Tuesday, September 2, at 10:00 a.m. local time, the GO Pass and GO Pass Deluxe for August will be available in Pokémon GO!

GO Pass and GO Pass Deluxe

A GO Pass is a free, limited-time progression track available during a specified period. By collecting GO Points you can increase your rank to earn rewards.

Trainers will automatically receive GO Pass: August on Tuesday, August 5, at 10:00 a.m. local time. You can collect GO Points and rank up to get additional rewards through Tuesday, September 2, at 10:00 a.m. local time.

Additionally, from Saturday, August 30, at 12:00 a.m. to Sunday, August 31, at 11:59 p.m. local time, there’s no daily limit for how many GO Points you can earn!

For Trainers looking for upgraded rewards and faster progression, check out the GO Pass Deluxe, a paid version of the GO Pass. While progressing through the GO Pass Deluxe, you’ll be able to claim all of the rewards from both the free GO Pass and GO Pass Deluxe. You can upgrade to a GO Pass Deluxe at any time and still collect rewards from previously unlocked ranks.

Rewards unlocked in the GO Pass will expire on Thursday, September 4, at 10:00 a.m. local time, so be sure to claim your rewards before they’re gone!

Lucky Trinket

The Lucky Trinket will return as the final reward in this month’s GO Pass Deluxe.

A Lucky Trinket is a one-time-use item that can be used to turn one friend from your Friend List into a Lucky Friend. When used, the Lucky Trinket will set the status of you and your chosen friend to Lucky, even if you aren’t Best Friends yet! When you’re Lucky Friends with someone, the next time you trade with each other, both Pokémon will become Lucky Pokémon. After the trade, your Lucky Friend status will be cleared.

This exciting item will only stay in your Item Bag for a limited time, so don’t forget to use it! The Lucky Trinket earned as a part of GO Pass Deluxe: August will expire on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. local time, regardless of when you claimed it.

You must be at least Great Friends with the Trainer you wish to use your Lucky Trinket with. You cannot use a Lucky Trinket with a Trainer you are currently Lucky Friends with. Using a Lucky Trinket on a friend does not change the distance at which you can complete a trade. If you do not want to allow other Trainers to use their Lucky Trinkets on you, you can disable this permission in your Settings page.
