PREMIERE: Isabel Rumble Goes To The Valley In Her New Music Video For ‘Soften’

Isabel Rumble has shared her first new music of 2025: A stand-alone single entitled ‘Soften’. It follows on from a string of four singles that the Candelo-based singer-songwriter shared across 2024, in the wake of her 2023 debut album Bird Be Brave: ‘Body Of Clay’ in June, ‘The Whale Song’ in August, ‘Water Wings’ in October and ‘Your Voice’ the following month in November.
Today (July 10th), Rumble is premiering the song’s music video exclusively on Music Feeds ahead of the single’s official release on Friday, July 11th. It was directed and produced by Greg Primmer, and was shot on location on the Sapphire Coast of New South Wales. “We filmed the video in my home valley on Thaua Country, Yuin Nation, nestled in the far southern valleys of New South Wales,” said Rumble in a statement shared to Music Feeds.
“It’s a sepia-toned, minimal offering, juxtaposing my body amidst the ancient rock formations. This is a quiet conversation between self and place, inner and outer worlds. With just a small team of people dear to me, we set out to create something spacious and honest that holds some of the essence of that special land.” Watch the premiere of the music video for ‘Soften’ below.

With regards to the song itself, Rumble went on to explain that she was initially inspired to write the song back in 2023 following a tarot reading – something she finds is “a beautiful tool for reflection and untangling thoughts”. “In this particular reading I drew the Three of Cups alongside the Moon,” she said. “The tarot book told me to ‘dance my way through the night’, and to ‘trust my instincts’. It seemed to make sense at the time, so I sat quietly – and a song was born.

Turning curiosity inwards, I kept being reminded that there was work to be done. Soft work, that digs deep but still allows for playfulness and dancing free. ‘Soften’ is a reminder to dance with the moon in all its phases. To be OK with discomfort, and trust in the work. Most of all, it’s a moment to let go and breathe.”
Rumble will launch the single with a performance at the Lomond Hotel in Melbourne’s Brunswick East next week, on Wednesday, July 16th. She will be joined at the show by Kavisha Mazzella. Tickets for the show are on sale now, and can be purchased via Eventbrite.
