NASCAR Hall of Famer Rex White Passes Away At 95Rex White, a member of the NASCAR Hall of Fame, recently passed away at the ripe age of 95 years. He leaves quite the legacy behind, being what many claimed was the best short track racer of his time.

The man racked up quite a few accomplishments during his NASCAR career, including wining 28 times in 233 race starts. Among those were 110 finishes in the top five and 163 in the top ten. White raced for a total of nine years.
During that time, he became the seventh driver to grab the championship in the NASCAR premier series back in 1960. The following season, he came in second for points, finishing in the top ten for points six times during his career.
Many today don’t realize White was small in stature at just 5 feet and 4 inches tall, weighing 135 lbs. at the height of his NASCAR racing career. His right leg had been damaged after a childhood bout with polio.
However, the man was known as a fierce competitor who was consistent race after race, forcing others to keep their guard up lest White eat their lunch.
White was inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame in 2015 at the same time as Bill Elliott, Fred Lorenzen, Wendell Scott, and Joe Weatherly.
“We mourn the loss of NASCAR Champion and Hall of Famer, Rex White,” Jim France, NASCAR chairman and CEO, shared in a statement. “Rex epitomized the formative days of NASCAR — a true pioneer whose contributions helped shape the foundation of our sport.
“His hard work, dedication and talent allowed him to make a living doing what he loved most – racing cars. He was the model of consistency – finishing in the top five in nearly half of his races — and dominated the short tracks. On behalf of NASCAR and the France family, I want to offer our condolences to the friends and family of Rex White.”
