Marvel's early-2025 release of Captain America: Brave New World featured a few noteworthy changes and one interesting villain. While it marked the first solo film with Anthony Mackie taking over the role of Captain America, Marvel also brought on one of the most beloved and well-known actors in Hollywood, Harrison Ford, to portray Red Hulk. However, Red Hulk didn't speak, so it was a bit of a unique role, to say the least, for Ford.

Harrison Ford Asked if He Had Conversations About Marvel Return After Portraying Red Hulk

During a wide-ranging interview with Variety, the 83-year-old was asked if Marvel president Kevin Feige convinced him to return to the MCU. His answer was about as straight-forward as one could imagine, and Ford didn't expand on the answer.

"Nope," Ford said.

While Ford's jump into the Marvel world was a fun one for fans ahead of the film, it's not surprising that the longtime actor appears to be done with his work in the superhero/villain world.

Harrison Ford's Previous Comments on Playing Red Hulk in 'Captain America: Brave New World'

As exciting as it would be for funs to see Ford do more work with Marvel, his comments in 2024 were telling.

During the prior interview with Variety, he was asked what it took to turn him into the Red Hulk character for Captain America: Brave New World.

“What did it take? It took not caring. It took being an idiot for money, which I’ve done before," Ford responded.

Ford did take a lighter tone with the role shortly after, calling it a "great time" and stating he was "delighted at the response" fans gave to the initial trailer.

“I don’t mean to disparage it,” Ford added on a more serious note. “I’m just saying you have to do certain things that normally your mother would not want you to do — or your acting coach, if you had one. But it’s fun, and I enjoyed it. I had a great time, and I’m delighted at the response that we got with the trailer.”

Anthony Mackie's Captain America Set to Take Center Stage for 'Avengers: Doomsday'

While we can fairly say it's a wrap on Ford's time as a villain in Marvel movies, Mackie's Captain America will be front and center in the 2026 film Avengers: Doomsday.

Although Captain America: Brave New World earned mixed reviews from critics and fans, the upcoming Avengers film is still one of the most highly anticipated movies of 2026. Mackie, among a lengthy list of other current and former actors who have portrayed superheroes, will square off with the longtime Iron Man star, Robert Downey Jr., who'll play Doctor Doom.

After initially having a summer release date next year, Avengers: Doomsday was pushed back and is now set to be released on December 18, 2026.
