Brittany Force Clocks Fastest NHRA Pass Ever

Brittany Force has set a new speed record in NHRA after racing this past weekend, hitting 341.85 mph on her 3.659 pass. You could call Britanny Force a chip off the ol’ block and you wouldn’t be wrong. Just like her dad, she’s an ace on the dragstrip, roasting opponents and records alike while wowing the crowds.

NASCAR Hall of Famer Rex White passes away at 95.

Lining up against Doug Kalitta during the Top Fuel semifinals during the NHRA Northwest Nationals at Muckleshoot Casino Resort in Auburn, Washington, Force had her work cut out for her. During round one of the competition, Kalitta hit 341.34 mph on a 3.628 run, tying for the second-fastest pass in NHRA history.

In the meantime, Force did a 340.82 mph run in 3.69 seconds, advancing.

But as the two squared off, it seemed like Kalitta was unstoppable. Even though he ended up losing, the man did show up in a big way, once again breaking the 340 mph barrier, just it wasn’t enough.

Force ended up usurping her teammate Austin Prock’s record of 341.68 during the season finale last year. Plenty of people thought that record would stand for a while, not less than a season. But Muckleshoot isn’t a surprising place for that to happen, considering four of the six fastest speeds in Top Fuel history have been recorded at the dragstrip.

Since the facility sits at just over 300 feet above sea level, the oxygen density in the air favors record runs. We might see another next year.

Sadly, even though Brittany Force won in the semifinals and set a new record, she went to the finals against Shawn Langdon, falling behind him. Sometimes your highs in racing are quickly followed by defeats, which is why celebrating the moment is wise.
