Bachelor’s Madi Prewett and Husband Reveal Why They Will ‘Spank’ Daughter

Plenty of parents believe that spanking is an antiquated form of punishment. Bachelor alum Madi Prewett definitely isn’t one of them. During a recent episode of her podcast, Stay True, she and her husband explained why they plan to spank their daughter, Hosanna. They feel like it’s part of the teachings of the bible.

Bachelor alum Madi Prewett will spank her child in a “loving way”

Madi and her husband, Grant Troutt, welcomed their daughter into the world in January 2025. That means that Hosanna can barely sit up on her own, but Madi and Grant already have plans for her corporal punishment when she inevitably misbehaves.

“We will [spank her], on the record, because the Bible clearly says, ‘Folly is bound up in a child, but discipline drives it far away,’” Grant explained on the podcast.

“It also specifically says discipline with a rod,” Madi added.

She continued. “Well, some people could say, ‘You can discipline them with time-outs.’ Hold on, it says with a rod.”

According to Madi, she looks back on times when her father spanked her and thanks God that it happened. She feels like it set her on the straight and narrow. The Bachelor Nation alum said, “Praise God that my dad loved me enough to train me into righteousness.”

With that in mind, it sounds like Madi and Grant are looking forward to sharing that experience with Hosanna. Madi has already spent time fantasizing about what she’ll tell her daughter when she spanks her.

“Mommy does not want to discipline you, mommy doesn’t enjoy having to spank you, but there are consequences to disobedience,” she said of her future conversations with Hosanna. “And that’s what you’re saying is, there are consequences to our sin. There are consequences to disobedience.”

Elsewhere in this same episode podcast, Grant detailed his past with smoking weed and having a pornography addiction. Did anyone spank him to punish him for those transgressions? We’re not sure, but he did proudly announce he’s a decade free from masturbation.
